چکیده

Comparative cytogenetic studies are very useful in the characterization of different accessions same plant. The aimed this study was search for intraspecific karyotypic variability three species Passiflora genus using chromosomal conventional techniques (Giemsa staining and Fluorochromes base-specific) molecular technique as Fluorescent Situ Hybridization (FISH). diploid character observed all plants analyzed by being 2n = 18 chromosomes number. base-specific heterochromatin only showed GC-rich blocks on satellites nucleolar organizer regions, but no variation found CMA3+/DAPI− blocks, except two P. tholozanii accession, where accession from Manaus five with separate other were found. relation to 45S rDNA located FISH between tholozani accession. nitida coccinea quantitative differentiation sites. Telomeric sites Arabidopsis-type limited terminal suggesting stability. low reinforces need developing new marker mapping increase resolution chromatin visualization.

Intraspecific variation and species coexistence.

We use a two-species model of plant competition to explore the effect of intraspecific variation on community dynamics. The competitive ability ("performance") of each individual is assigned by an independent random draw from a species-specific probability distribution. If the density of individuals competing for open space is high (e.g., because fecundity is high), species with high maximum (o...

The use and limits of ITS data in the analysis of intraspecific variation in Passiflora L. (Passifloraceae)

The discovery and characterization of informative intraspecific genetic markers is fundamental for evolutionary and conservation genetics studies. Here, we used nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences to access intraspecific genetic diversity in 23 species of the genus Passiflora L. Some degree of variation was detected in 21 of these. The Passiflora and Decaloba (DC.) Rchb. subgenera showed significan...

Analysis of transferability of microsatellite primers (SSR) in wild Passiflora species and intraspecific genetic diversity in Passiflora alata.

The genus Passiflora L. is the most representative of Passifloraceae, with over 500 known species, among which 150-200 originated from Brazil. In addition to the great commercial importance of this genus for the fruit market, many of the species have exotic flowers with a huge diversity of colors and can thereby be exploited as ornamental plants. This study was aimed at investigating the transf...

Intraspecific genetic variation and species coexistence in plant communities.

Many studies report that intraspecific genetic variation in plants can affect community composition and coexistence. However, less is known about which traits are responsible and the mechanisms by which variation in these traits affect the associated community. Focusing on plant-plant interactions, we review empirical studies exemplifying how intraspecific genetic variation in functional traits...
